About the job
You are on the front lines of the digital health revolution, joining a dynamic cross-disciplinary team to bring prenatal care into the 21st century.
Bloomlife’s first product is a pregnancy tracker and was launched on the US market a year ago. Currently, the product offers estimation and detection of uterine contractions as well as the energy level of the mother. The fetal heart rate, detected from the abdominal ECG, might be the next big feature, but requires accurate estimation of the fetal ECG.
Currently, we have a database with around 100 40-minute abdominal ECG recordings on around pregnant women across various gestational ages (20 to 40 weeks). The internship will consist in programming existing state-of-the-art fetal ECG extraction approaches from the literature and applying them to this growing database of abdominal ECG recordings. In addition, during the internship your role will be to set-up, benchmark all methods and help determine the most accurate fetal ECG extraction approach and possibly improve on this method for use in our sensor. You’ll work in close collaboration with the Bloomlife staff in Europe, covering data science, computer science, quality assurance, and biomedical engineering.
Your experience
- Recently graduated or pursuing B.Sc. / M.Sc. in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, electrical & electronics engineering, or equivalent
- Knowledgeable in signal processing and data visualization techniques in MATLAB
- Good written and oral English communication skills
What we offer
You will join a young, dynamic and international team who’s passionate about using technologies for a better living. You’ll get a chance to experience the vibe of a growing start-up with recent successes. You’ll experience first hand the life in an international start-up, while helping develop and benchmark one of the next features for our consumer product.
We offer a 3 to 9 month internship with flexible schedule.
