About the job

You are on the front lines of the digital health revolution, joining a dynamic cross-disciplinary team to bring prenatal care into the 21st century. Bloomlife’s first product is a pregnancy tracker, which was launched on the US market in 2017. Currently, the product offers estimation and detection of uterine contractions as well as the energy level of the mother. Sleep monitoring could provide additional insights into the mother’s wellbeing. It is in fact well documented that abnormal and disordered sleep patterns are highly prevalent among pregnant women, and that negative sleep behaviors are correlated with adverse pregnancy outcomes and an increased likelihood of future health complications for both the mother and the fetus.
Developing algorithms for sleep tracking requires requires the availability of sufficient high-quality data. Your work will consist in growing our current dataset, verifying the data quality, and benchmarking the available algorithms against each other and the gold standard. You’ll work in close collaboration with the clinical studies team in Europe and the Bloomlife staff, covering data science, computer science, quality assurance, and biomedical engineering.

Your experience

  • Recently graduated or pursuing B.Sc. / M.Sc. in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, electrical & electronics engineering, biomedical sciences or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge in signal processing and data visualization techniques
  • Good written and oral communication skills in both Dutch and English

What we offer

You’ll join a young, dynamic and international team passionate about using technologies for a better living and get a chance to experience the vibe of a growing start-up with recent successes. You’ll experience first hand the life in an international start-up, while helping develop and benchmark one of the next features for our consumer product.
We offer a 2-4 internship with flexible schedule. (Combinable with “Sleep Study Data Engineer” internship)
